Alasdair was born and brought up in the northwest Highlands of Scotland and holds a BA (hons) in Illustration and an MA in Communication Design from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
With over a decade of experience as a Camera Assistant on major feature films, commercials, and music videos, Alasdair learned from some of the most respected cinematographers in the industry, including Greig Fraser ACS ASC, Bradford Young ASC, Anthony Dod Mantle DFF ASC BSC, Matthew Jensen ASC, and Emmanuel Lubezki ASC AMC.
Taking inspiration from the approach of these DP’s Alasdair began shooting his own work while still assisting. Over the years he has developed his own aesthetic which celebrates the inherent and subtle beauty of natural realism. Alasdair is particularly interested in producing authentic and emotionally driven character-led narrative work that explores impactful socially conscious subject matter.
Though primarily London based, Alasdair maintains a strong connection to his Scottish roots and works there whenever the opportunity arises.
